Medical Disclaimer
Updated: 2025-11-23. This page is for general educational purposes and is not medical or legal advice.
Crisis and emergencies
The Products are not for crisis intervention, emergency response, or real-time monitoring. If you are in danger or believe you may harm yourself or others, contact local emergency services immediately. In the U.S. and Canada, dial 911 for emergencies and 988 for suicide and crisis support. Outside these regions, contact local emergency resources.
Scope and audience
- Educational only. Umbrella Journal (articles, CBT prompts, AI replies, dashboards, exports, notifications, partner resources) is for general educational and wellness support. It must not be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition or to change medications without a licensed clinician.
- Who may use. The Products are intended for adults. Minors may only use them with supervision and consent from a parent or legal guardian, and they do not replace pediatric, campus, or other counseling services.
Care relationship and device status
- No care relationship. Journaling, messaging the AI assistant, or receiving cohort or insight reports does not create a doctor-patient or therapist-client relationship. Umbrella Journal team members do not monitor or respond to individual symptom reports or journal entries for clinical care.
- Not a medical device. The Products are not medical devices, are not FDA/Health Canada/CE cleared, and should not replace professional clinical judgment.
AI and automation limits
- Review with clinicians. Prompts, insights, and AI-generated language may be incomplete, outdated, or not suited to your circumstances. They depend on the information you provide and must be reviewed with qualified professionals before you act.
- Data quality matters. Inaccurate or incomplete entries can produce misleading suggestions. Always use your judgment and seek professional help when needed.
Use with clinicians
- Medical decisions. Any references to medications, physical therapy, procedures, or care coordination in prompts or trackers must be confirmed by your licensed providers. The Products do not replace monitoring for side effects, labs, or follow-up care.
Organizational dashboards
- Aggregated or anonymized dashboards made available to employers, schools, or partners are informational only. They must not be used to make individual employment, academic, or medical decisions and must be interpreted alongside the organization's policies.
Third-party resources
- Linked articles, PDFs, or partner materials are provided "as is." Umbrella Journal does not endorse or warrant external guidance; evaluate all external resources with your care team.
Limitation of liability
- Your use of the Products is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Umbrella Journal disclaims liability for any loss or injury arising from reliance on information provided through the Products.
