Account and data deletion
Last updated: June 24, 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your Ella : Let's talk account and related Umbrella Journal app data.
How to request deletion
- Email help@umbrellajournal.ca from the email address connected to your account.
- Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
- Include the app name, such as "Ella : Let's talk", and the email address or account identifier you used in the app.
If you cannot email from the account address, include enough information for us to verify that you control the account before we delete personal data.
What we delete
After verification, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account where required by law and our retention rules. This may include account identifiers, profile details, chat or journal content, check-in responses, app-generated insights, support messages connected to the request, and cloud sync records.
What may be kept
Some data may be kept for a limited time where necessary for legal compliance, dispute resolution, security, fraud prevention, billing records, tax records, backup cycles, or other legitimate business needs. We may also keep aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you.
Timing
We aim to complete verified deletion requests within a commercially reasonable period and in accordance with applicable law. Backup copies may take longer to age out of routine backup systems.
Partial data deletion
You may also request deletion of specific content or data without deleting your whole account by emailing help@umbrellajournal.ca and describing what you want removed.
